31-year-old reliever Aaron Barrett is back in the majors after a four-year absence. He underwent Tommy John surgery in September 2015. The bad luck continued the next year as he suffered a fractured right elbow while rehabbing in Florida. He had to undergo yet another surgical procedure. Barrett missed the entire 2017 season and didn’t make his season debut last year until mid-June with Low-A Auburn. He moved up to Double-A Harrisburg for the 2019 season. Now he’s on his way back to the majors.
Barrett impressed in the minors this year, posting a 2.75 ERA with a 62/16 K/BB ratio in 52 1/3 innings of work. He owns a 3.47 ERA with 84 strikeouts and 27 walks in 70 big league innings.
